Husband and wife duo Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams grew up worlds apart — Larry in Manhattan and Teresa in western Tennessee — but they are as tight as ever on their new album, All This Time, due out April 5.
After nearly 40 years as a couple, songs come and go on a daily basis in the Campbell-Williams household. But Larry tells Q104.3's Out of the Box with Jonathan Clarke that it was his better half who first noticed that they had enough material for their fourth studio album.
"When I first started coming up with song for this record, they were just [standalone] songs, you know?" Larry says. "They would come to me in snippets, I would come up with a phrase. It's always melody first, I get the melody and some phrase will come in and then it turns into a song. And I didn't see any connection between any of them. Teresa, after hearing the bulk of what we had done, just sort of found a connection, a thread there. If it's there, it came out subconscious for me."
Teresa adds that they ironed out the album's point of view when they began considering what to title it.
"The whole record is about relationships," Teresa points out. "There's maybe one song that's not. But it's just the good, the bad, the ugly of relationships. The beginning, the end, you know, it's all there."
