Starcrawler Talk 'She Said,' Jack White, My Chemical Romance + More

Now three albums into its career, Starcrawler has certainly grown up a bit, but not at the expense of the freshness and wild energy captured on the band's debut.

She Said arrived last month via Big Machine. The product of a post-pandemic band reunion, the groundwork for the record was laid during a pair of band getaways, in the SoCal desert and in Oregon.

Singer Arrow de Wilde tells Q104.3's Out of the Box with Jonathan Clarke that the band had mixed results in terms of productivity.

"We definitely were creative, but at the same time we also wanted to have fun because we hadn't seen each other in so long," she recalls of the initial writing sessions. "It was almost kind of hard to write because we wanted to hang. ... We were cooking and I don't even know. We got some stuff done."

Eventually, the band got the job done, delivering 10 more tracks of fiery, hook-laden pop-punk on She Said. But for the band's in-studio performance for Out of the Box, they showed off their musical maturation by revamping the songs "Stranded" and "Roadkill" into dreamy, countrified ballads.
