Take Me To The Movies: 'You People,' 'Shotgun Wedding' + 'Maybe I Do'

Just 2 weeks away from Valentines Day, 3 rom-coms are the big movies of the weekend: two of them are kinda “Meet The Parents” 2.0 .

“You People”.. on Netflix and open in a few theaters. Think Jewish/Muslim “Meet The Parents”. Just the cast alone will make you want to see this: Jonah Hill; Eddie Murphy; Nia Long; Julia Louis-Dreyfus; David Duchovny and Rhea Perlman. Written by and starring Jonah Hill , co-written by “Black’ish” creator/director Kenya Barris, it’s the story of Ezra Cohen and Amira Mohammed falling in love and the subsequent meeting of the parents. I can’t wait to see it!!But it’s only getting 40% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Shotgun Wedding” ..on Prime Video and a few theaters. JLo stars with Josh Duhamel, Lenny Kravitz and “White Lotus” phenom Jennifer Coolidge. A couple plans the perfect destination wedding only to have everything go south when a group of criminals takes them hostage. It’s getting 37% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Maybe I Do”… shot entirely in New Jersey and opening only in theaters , competing with the Oscar contenders, this one has an all-star cast: Richard Gere; Diane Keaton; Susan Sarandon; William H. Macy and Emma Roberts. A young couple is at a crossroads : should they marry or not. They get all the parents together to sort out. But the parents already know each other because they’re having affairs with each other. It’s not great but not awful either. Diane Keaton and Richard Gere work as a couple but for the life of me, I can’t see Susan Sarandon and William H. Macy together. It’s getting 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, which I thought was generous. I give it 2 Hearts but only because of the cast and the issues raised in long marriages.

“M3gan” … is now on Amazon, ITunes and Apple Plus for 20 bucks.
