Video Shows Wolf Van Halen Unfazed When Guitar Strap Breaks Before Solo

Mammoth WVH's recent gig in Salt Lake City could have gone smoother, but a few issues with the security of Wolfgang Van Halen's guitar strap didn't prevent his band from sounding anything less than stellar.

Wolfie's strap broke away from the bottom of his guitar during the band's cover of Alice In Chains' "Them Bones." To make matters more challenging, the snafu occurred during the second chorus of the song — just a few measures before Wolfie's guitar solo.

You can check out the performance via fan-shot video in the player above.

If you're not watching closely, you might miss the whole thing. To Wolfie's credit, the issue didn't seem to affect him at all.

The young Van Halen simply contorts his body to support his guitar while playing his lead until a guitar tech rushes out to re-attach the strap to the guitar body. His solo under duress is at least as tasty as the one Jerry Cantrell recorded for the song back in 1992.

Wolfie addressed the incident Tuesday via Instagram, writing that his guitar strap actually failed him twice during the Salt Lake show. Maybe that's why he seemed so prepared.

Mammoth WVH's 'Young Guns' tour of the U.S. with Dirty Honey continues through April. Get all the tour dates here.
