Former Skid Row singer Johnny Solinger has died at age 55, according to his longtime band.

"We are saddened to hear the news of our brother Johnny Solinger," the band wrote in an Instagram post Saturday. "Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans. Godspeed Singo. Say hello to Scrappy for us."

Solinger himself announced in May via Facebook that he was in the hospital after being diagnosed with liver failure.

"It is with a heavy heart I must let everyone know what's going on with me and my health," he said in post. "I have been hospitalized for over the last month. I have been diagnosed with liver failure. And the prognosis is not so good."

Soon after Solinger's post, his friend Brian Lawrence created a GoFundMe campaign with the hope of assisting his family with medical bills and palliative care. As of Monday morning, the campaign raised $17,150.

On Sunday, Lawrence shared an update from Solinger's wife Paula via the GoFundMe, confirming that the singer's death.

"Johnny has passed. I was holding his hand. He went in peace. Thank you all. I will take a break from everything but please know I am forever grateful for your love."

Solinger succeeded Sebastian Bach in Skid Row when he joined the band in 1999. He toured with Skid Row until 2015, recording two albums with the band and four solo albums during that period.
