While Michael J. Fox played guitar prior to getting the role as Marty McFly in Back to the Future, he was provided with an instructor/coach, Paul Hanson, to help him learn the guitar parts for scenes in the film.
The behind the scenes footage was included in a special edition of the film. You can see it in the clip above.
The lessons paid off, too. Back to the Future became a classic and Fox's performance of "Johnny B. Goode" is one of the most iconic guitar performances in cinema history.
