Founding Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing says he will perform with the band during its Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction coming up November 5.
Downing, who left Judas Priest in 2010, told Ultimate Classic Rock that the reunion "will be something to look forward to."
"It's what I've done so many times," he said. "It's almost like cracking a beer, let alone riding a bike. It's embedded in me. It's what I do. So it'll be quite something to look forward to, just to get up there and crank the amps up and just do it once again, for that short moment in time."
Although Downing's departure from Judas Priest came with some acrimony, he and his former bandmates have maintained that they are willing and able to reunite onstage at the Rock Hall and make the most of the experience.
Frontman Rob Halford recently expressed some uncertainty that Downing would follow through with his intention to perform with the band. He has added, however, that any tension between current and former bandmates has to be set aside so the band can enjoy "this wonderful opportunity and what it represents."
Judas Priest will likely be performing a medley of some of its best known work at the ceremony.
"I think we've probably got eight or nine minutes," Downing said. "I'm not even going to be able to break a sweat. The main thing is to represent the attitude and hopefully the legend of what Judas Priest is and has become and what it means to everybody who's been on that very long journey through the decades with the band. And hopefully, it will just kind of remind people and bring back some cherished memories of the heavy metal parking lots all around the world."
Downing also told UCR that former Judas Priest drummer Les Binks, who was in the band from '77-'79, plans to attend the ceremony as well.
