Neil Young Keeps Playing After Festival Cuts Power For Breaking Curfew

CANADA-ENTERTAINMENT-MUSIC-SUMMER-FESTIVAL

You could say Neil Young is too old fashioned to be herded off stage just because of some pesky curfew.

If they didn't already know, authorities at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival figured that out Saturday night when they cut Young's power at 10 p.m. while the icon and his band, Promise of the Real, were 8 minutes into their final song, "Rockin' in the Free World."

Just before the PA was turned off, someone can be seen running on stage gesturing to Young, possibly telling him he was out of time. Young appeared to be getting ready for another guitar solo when he nodded at the man, turned and signaled the band to go back into the chorus.

While they didn't wrap it up in time, the crowd was more than happy to join in, singing the song's chorus over and over until Young played the final chord for some closure and waved goodbye.

You can watch fan-shot video of the performance below.

BottleRock has a history of cutting power on its headliners, due to the festival grounds' close proximity to nearby homes. Authorities shut down Foo Fighters' set in 2017 and The Cure's set in 2014.
