Frontman Matt Bellamy recently shared a clip via Instagram of him working on guitar tones in the studio. The clip was later shared on the band's Facbeook page.
The video includes the caption, "Back in the studio. New song coming soon..."
In the video, Bellamy is experimenting with an eerie guitar effect, combining vibrato and feedback to create a spooky, sustaining melody. Bellamy can be heard giving his engineer directions to reduce his guitar tone's presence and distortion, while increasing its delay.
The band's last album, Drones, was released in 2015. Muse supported the effort with a world tour. The last song the band released was a cover of The Cramps' "New Kind of Kick" for Halloween in October 2016. And the band is touring North America this summer too. Check out the tour dates here.
