Today America Came To Know Jethro Tull

Today America came to know Jethro Tull!

In 1969 the band would hit the road in the states with Led Zeppelin & Vanilla Fudge. Tull came out of Blackpool, Lancashire, in 67, blending blues rock, jazz fusion, and elements of English folk music, with hard rock and classical music. Considered one of the great prgressive rock bands of all time, Jethro Tull would cut their teeth on the road in the U.S. beginning a long career of classic work that stretches to this day. Although many have spent time as part of this iconic band, Tull's only consistent member is Ian Anderson.

Jethro Tull's classic "Aqualung" would be their signature hit, but in the age of album oriented rock the band would have massive success if not always charting on the singles charts. The band won their sole Grammy in 1989 for the album Crest of a Knave, in what became the most controversial Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental, in which they beat out Metallica who was nominated for the iconic "And Justice For All." Many were confused by the win since Tull's not a metal band, but the award was a combination of Hard Rock & Metal which the Grammys said was the reason for the win.

Still in the progressive scene to this day Jethro Tull is one of the great rock band of all time.
