Tickets to FIFA World Cup Games at MetLife Stadium do not come cheap for the most part, but some lucky New York City residents will have the opportunity to catch a game without spending a fortune.
A lottery will open next week for New Yorkers, offering $50 tickets to World Cup games at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, including free round-trip bus service, the New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced on Thursday.
The reduced ticket prices are part of a partnership between the mayor's office and the New York-New Jersey Host Committee.
The lottery will open at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 25 at RegNYCtix.com. Only 50,000 people are allowed to apply until midnight each day over the following six days. Winners will be contacted on June 3 and permitted to buy up to two tickets each.
Anyone who wins the opportunity to purchase will have to prove NYC residency. Tickets are non-transferable.
Only 1,000 tickets will be available at the reduced price. They are split across 150 seats per game for the five group stage matches and two knockout round matches at MetLife.
Reduced price tickets will not be available for the World Cup final on July 19.
