Duran Duran, Eminem Lead Rock Hall Fan Vote With Three Days Remaining

Duran Duran is in first place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's fan vote for the class of 2022, with just three days of voting remaining.

The hitmaking British pop group is likely to take first place in the fan vote by a landslide with a total of more than 908,000 votes, leading the pack (as of Tuesday, April 26) by over 230,000.

Hip-hop icon Eminem is sitting in second place with just over 674,000 votes, followed by Pat Benatar, Eurythmics and Dolly Parton. (Parton has continued earned votes more than six weeks after asking that the Hall of Fame remove her from consideration.)

Judas Priest currently sits in sixth place, about 30,000 votes behind Dolly.

Each year, the Rock Hall's inductees are voted on by the Hall of Fame's members, as well as a group of music journalists, historians and industry professionals. The totality of the fan vote serves as one ballot among 1,200 or so others, and a meager suggestion to the general voting body.

As such, coming in first place in the fan-vote is far from a guarantee of induction.

In 2020, only one of the top five fan-voted acts — Doobie Brothers — actually earned induction into the Hall of Fame. Doobie brothers finished third that year in the fan voting, behind Dave Matthews Band and Benatar. Judas Priest and Soundgarden finished fourth and fifth place, respectively, that year.

One of the most influential heavy metal bands of all-time, Judas Priest is up for induction this year for the third time overall. Current and former members of the band have encouraged participation in the Rock Hall's fan voting to hopefully get some more heavy metal represented in the Hall of Fame.
