Billy Idol is about to release his brand new EP, The Roadside, on September 17th, and just a few days later, the rock and roll legend is celebrating his new music during his exclusive iHeartRadio ICONs show.
The Roadside EP follows Idol's 2014 album Kings & Queens of the Underground, and showcases four new songs, including its lead single "Bitter Taste." The new music is inspired by Idol's 1990 motorcycle crash, which nearly cost him his leg. In an interview ahead of the show, Billy told iHeartRadio's Jim Kerr what finally prompted him to finally write about the accident:
"It was something I was trying to forget about, really. ...I thought, 'What could I write about maybe that was something in my life that I was overcoming something, something that was maybe life-changing or changed me in the future or changed my whole life?'" Billy explained. "And I thought about the motorcycle accident, which was a bit of a watershed moment where I did sort of re-evaluate and pull back from the edge so to speak, in terms of substances and stuff like that."
During iHeartRadio ICONS with Billy Idol, the rock star will perform songs from his new EP and fan favorites, as well as talk about The Roadside and more during an exclusive Q&A with Jim Kerr.
