New Peter Green Book Includes Singles Featuring David Gilmour, Kirk Hammett

An upcoming book chronicling the life and career of Fleetwood Mac co-founder and guitarist Peter Green will feature previously unreleased Fleetwood Mac material with contributions from David Gilmour and Kirk Hammett.

Each song will arrive as part of special editions of the Pete Green - The Albatross Man book, which comes in October. You can pre-order it now here.

Green had reportedly worked on the multi-media project with Rufus Publications for four years prior to his death last July. The book dives into the ups-and-downs of Green's private life, which he guarded closely for decades.

The first long-lost track is a rendition of "Need Your Love So Bad," featuring a newly unearthed lead vocal by Green which he recorded in his mother's attic in the '60s. Gilmour added guitar to the new track.

Metallica's Hammett layered guitar onto the second song, which is a new version of "Man of the World." Hammett recorded his parts with Green at Abbey Road studios in January of 2020, playing Green's legendary "Greeny" Les Paul, which he's owned since 2014, in a nod to the original recording.

Three versions of Peter Green - The Albatross Man will be available, including an ultra-limited edition of 50 copies autographed by Green, which contains two vinyl singles, a CD, a T-shirt and a piece of hand-drawn art by Green.

The deluxe edition is limited to 500 copies, with vinyl and CD, a lithograph copy of Green's art, a t-shirt and an autograph from Hammett. A third edition will contain just the book.

Hammett and Gilmour also took part in Mick Fleetwood's concert celebration of Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac's early years from last winter. A film of the star-studded concert premiered via Nugs.net on April 24.
