NJ Woman Survives Ride Through City's Drainage System During Flood

In New Jersey, 24-year-old Nathalia Bruno, a driver for DoorDash, was in Passaic Monday afternoon when she attempted to drive through deep water due to a flash flood. This was a disastrous decision as her car began to fill up with water and float as the tide moved it toward a brook that runs below the city.

Her trip under the city went on for one mile as she traveled 30 mph and was finally shot out of an outlet into the Passaic River. She managed to swim to the other side of the river and climbed out into a backyard. A homeowner called an ambulance which took her to the Hospital in Passaic although she didn't appear to be seriously injured.

Firefighters said it's a miracle she survived at all. Door Dash issued a statement saying, "We have reached out to the Dasher to offer our support during her recovery." They later added that they will offer Bruno occupational insurance to help pay her medical bills as well as financial assistance.
