Robert Plant Performs Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" After 23 Years

Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant recently performed the "Immigrant Song" for the first time in 23 years at a festival in Iceland, the country that inspired it.

Plant was famously inspired to write the lyrics for the Led Zeppelin III classic after a visit to "the land of ice and snow" in Zeppelin's early years.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and his solo band, the Sensational Space Shifters, often mix reimagined versions of Zeppelin songs into their live sets. Performing the "Immigrant Song" for an eager crowd at the Secret Solstice festival was a no-brainer, even if it was also the last time.

You can see some grainy fan-shot video of the performance above.

Plant last performed "Immigrant Song" with Jimmy Page at a concert in Tokyo in 1996.

The singer has been open about how he's wrestled and adapted to changes in his vocal register over the years. The version of Plant heard in the above recording sounds every bit of 49 years removed from recording Zeppelin III.
