Take Me To The Movies: Creed 2, Ralph Breaks the Internet

“Creed 2”

Starring Michael B. Jordan (I still say he should have been the hero in “Black Panther”) & Tessa Thompson (I loved her since “Dear White People”) back from the original 3 years ago- so magnificently directed by Ryan Coogler (who starred Michael in “Fruitvale Station” & “Black Panther”). The sequel is NOT directed by the talented Coogler. It’s an almost by-the-book “Rocky”- not that there’s anything wrong with that. But the first “Creed” was so superior. Still, the fight scenes are awesome and so is the magic between Jordan & Thompson. The storyline has the young fighter pitted against the son of the Russian boxer who killed his dad in the ring in the 80’s. Phylicia Rashad returns along with, of course, Sly Stallone. Dolph Lungren also stars and even Bridgette Nielsen makes an appearance!! It’s a surefire crowd pleaser. Just don’t expect anything new.

“Ralph Breaks the Internet”

A sequel to “Wreck-It Ralph” of 6 years ago. John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman are the reunited voices of Ralph & Vannelope. Again, the Disney magic: the kids love it on one level and for the parents, it’s an emo trip. I missed it but “The New York Post” says “‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ breaks your heart, too.” Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 93%.

“The World Before Your Feet”

The ONLY movie this week to get 100% from Rotten Tomatoes. We'll have the exec. producer and Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg joining us in the 8 AM hour, along with director Jeremy Workman and Matt Green, the man who spent 6 years (!!!) of his life walking every street, path, cemetery, beach and bridge of NYC.
