Geddy Lee Explores the History of the Bass Guitar in New Book

Rush frontman Geddy Lee is putting his lifelong passion for the bass guitar into a new book coming this December.

Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass arrives December 4. It features the history of 250 famous and rare basses, many of which are owned by Lee. The book includes Lee's perspective and remembrances as well as interviews with some of the world's greatest bassists.

"It's not surprising that sooner or later I'd dive down the proverbial rabbit hole into the world of vintage bass guitars," Lee said in a press release.

The book has been seven years in the making, as Lee has traveled the world, tracking down some of the most intriguing instruments in history and some of the most influential players of all-time.

Contributors to the book include Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones, The Rolling Stones' Bill Wyman, Metallica's Robert Trujillo, U2's Adam Clayton, Primus' Les Claypool and former Ozzy Osbourne bassist Bob Daisley.

And of course, Lee's longtime Rush bandmate Alex Lifeson wrote a foreword.

Lee's own bass collection features prominently, as he also details his stage and studio setups throughout his career. Photos were snapped by Richard Sibbald, though Lee has shared some pics via his Instagram account.
