Iconic actor and director of all-time classics Rob Reiner joined Jim and Shelli this morning. Rob touched on some of his most beloved movies like ‘When Harry Met Sally,’ ‘The Princess Bride,’ ‘Stand By Me’ and ‘This Is Spinal Tap.’
He also talked about his unforgettable role as “Michael ‘Meathead’ Stivic” on the groundbreaking sitcom ‘All in the Family.’ Rob had a great point- even though “Meathead” always called out “Archie Bunker” (Carroll O’Connor) on his bigoted views, you could always tell underneath that there was love between the characters. You don’t have to HATE someone just because you disagree with them. Shelli also asked Rob about the possibility of revisiting or rebooting ‘All in the Family’…
Speaking of Spinal Tap, Rob also revealed that The Doors’ John Densmore was in the running to be a member of Spinal Tap! Thankfully that didn’t happen. All that would’ve remained was a small blob behind the drum set. By the way, Rob clarified ‘This is Spinal Tap’ is a documentary, not a so-called “mockumentary.”
Rob’s new film is the political drama ‘Shock and Awe.’ It’s about the journalists investigating the lead up to the 2003 Iraq War. It features an all-star cast: Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, James Marsden, Milla Jovovich, Jessica Biel and Rob himself. It’s available on DIRECTV starting on June 14th and will be in theaters July 13th.
