Legendary stand-up, TV host, 3x Emmy Award winner, and author of multiple best sellers, Louie Anderson joined Jim and Shelli this morning for a great interview.
He was a total pleasure. Jim and Louie had an immediate rapport drawing from their mid-west roots.
Louie's new book "Hey Mom: Stories for My Mother, But You Can Read Them Too," is a funny and touching tribute to his recently departed Mom, with plenty of stories about his wild family and growing up with 10, yes 10! siblings.
Food is always a topic close to Jim's heart (and stomach)- he and Louie explore the joys of mashed potato gravy pools.
Louie talks about how his mother influenced his Emmy Award winning role as "Christine Baskets" in FX's critically acclaimed dark comedy "Baskets" (starring the King of Alt. Comedy, Zack Galifianakis). He manages to channel his mom's real life sweetness and optimism into the surreal, dead-pan world of Galifianakis' perpetually downtrodden, underemployed rodeo clown.
Check out the interview below:
Louie is doing a stand-up set at one of our favorite venues, The Cutting Room, this Friday (4/13) at 7:30. If you grab his book he'll be doing a signing/meet and greet after the show. Jim really liked "Hey Mom: Stories for My Mother, But You Can Read Them Too." It would be a great Mother's Day gift.
Don't forget, Louie's new stand-up special, 'Big Underwear' is available on all streaming platforms.
