Gregg Allman Dead At 69

The Allman Brothers Band's Gregg Allman has died at the age of 69. The Southern Rock legend, known for classics like "Midnight Rider" and "Melissa," passed away "peacefully at his home in Savannah, Georgia," according to a statement released on Gregg Allman's official website. Allman was diagnosed with hepatitis C in 1999 and underwent a liver transplant in 2010. He had been battling "serious health issues" and was forced to cancel a 2017 tour.

The official statement reads: "Gregg struggled with many health issues over the past several years. During that time, Gregg considered being on the road playing music with his brothers and solo band for his beloved fans, essential medicine for his soul. Playing music lifted him up and kept him going during the toughest of times."

Gregg Allman is survived by his wife, Shannon Allman, 5 children, 3 grandchildren and a large extended family. Rest in peace.
