Living in the Material World was remixed by Paul Hicks and George's son Dhani Harrison.

"For those of you who are just discovering this album; this record was released in service and with deep love for all our Brothers and Sisters around the world who populate this dualistic system we live in called Earth," Dhani said in a news release. "Peace be upon all sentient beings."

The album is Harrison's fourth solo album overall and second following the Beatles' 1970 breakup. It became and immediate hit, thanks to songs like "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)" and "Be Here Now."

The record was quickly deemed a "pop classic" by Rolling Stone magazine. And within five weeks of its original release in 1973 the album and lead single, "Give Me Love," each sat at No. 1 on their respective U.S. charts.

Two years after his Concert for Bangladesh in 1971, George established the Material World Foundation in 1973 to sponsor diverse forms or artistic expression and to encourage the exploration of alternative life views and philosophies as well as support and establish charitable organizations with consideration to those with special needs.

George donated all publishing royalties from his Living in the Material World album to the Foundation in perpetuity. See more about the foundation here.
