Rock Hall Of Fame Announces Plans For Eddie Van Halen Tribute

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is making sure to pay a special tribute to Eddie Van Halen at the 2020 induction ceremony when it airs live on Saturday, November 7, at 8 p.m.

The Rock Hall has released few details, though reports that the salute will take place during the in memoriam section, and it will feature several guitarists of note paying homage to Eddie's boundary-pushing work with Van Halen.

Eddie died on October 6 at age 65 following a long battle with cancer. He became a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — along with his Van Halen bandmates — in 2007, though he did not attend the event since he was in rehab at the time.

This year's Rock Hall of Fame induction will be broadcast live on HBO, Saturday, Nov. 7, at 8 p.m. Eastern time and available to stream on HBO Max. The event normally takes place in the spring, but was postponed this year due to coronavirus concerns.

2020's Rock Hall of Fame inductees include Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G., T. Rex and Ahment Ertegun Award honorees Jon Landau and Irving Azoff.

The show will also feature an impressive compliment of special guests, including Luke Bryan, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Miley Cyrus, Billy Gibbons, Dave Grohl, Don Henley, Jennifer Hudson, Billy Idol, Iggy Pop, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, Chris Martin, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Brad Paisley, Bruce Springsteen, St. Vincent, Ringo Starr, Gwen Stefani, Charlize Theron, Nancy Wilson and more.

Grohl is slated to open the show.
