Okay, Netflix will be airing, "The Day I Met El Chapo: The Kate Del Castillo Story." Actor Sean Penn has tried to block or re-edit this documentary and rightly so! The film suggests or implies that Sean Penn may have ratted out El Chapo by alerting the U.S. Department of Justice. Now I don't care what it looks like on the outside because of the timing, BUT SEAN PENN IS NO RAT!
I know him a little bit through his late brother Chris Penn, who worked on the movie, "Rumblefish" with us. Sean would come to visit periodically over the years when Chris was still alive. Sean Penn, and several people will attest to this, if you told him something he would really listen to you, take it in and then keep it down. He'd take your confidence to his grave. So I find it extremely hard to believe he'd ever rat someone out.
Watch Sean Penn breaking his silence as we revisit a bit of the Charlie Rose segment interviewing Sean which we saw on CBS' "60 Minutes" about a year ago. Remember Sean was working on a Rolling Stone article on his invitation to meet with El Chapo.
But I want to be very clear. Sean Penn, no matter how much of a bad boy actor he may be, would NEVER RAT OUT ANYBODY!, especially "EL CHAPO!"
And by the way, did Netflix get permission from El Chapo to do this. I know he's a notorious criminal but he's alive and in jail and still would have to give permission. I think El Chapo and his team of lawyers have indicated that they may sue and demand payment.
