Paul Simon Sells Rights To His Entire Song Catalog To Sony Music Publishing

Paul Simon has sold his entire song catalog to Sony Music Publishing.

Simon's sale is the latest in a series of deals struck by music icons for their life's work.

The deal, announced Wednesday, includes Simon-penned masterpieces like "Bridge Over Troubles Water," "Still Crazy After All These Years," "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover," "Graceland" and other works from Simon's career, which launched in the late-1950s.

The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Simon is a 16-time Grammy-winner who announced in 2018 that he was retiring from touring, though he conceded he may perform the occasional one-off gig in the future.

In a statement, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer said he was "pleased to have Sony Music Publishing be the custodian of my songs for the coming decades."

A growing list of legacy artists have announced deals for their publishing rights in recent months, including David Crosby, Carole Bayer Sager, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Neil Young and Bob Dylan.

Dylan's catalog sale made headlines in December when it was reported that the deal was worth over $300 million.

Publishing companies earn royalties from licensing songs for use in films, commercials and branding deals.
