For the Foo Fighters it's become something of a tradition to invite young fans onstage at some point in the set for a jam. So when Foos frontman Dave Grohl invited "Little Fonzie" up for a drum solo on Taylor Hawkins' kit, the 8-year-old obliged...and obliged and kept on obliging until Grohl had to call "Little Fonzie's" dad to come remove his son.
Even dad wasn't all that helpful; he seemed more interested in filming the hilarious encounter on his smartphone...and who could blame him! Just a few weeks ago Foo Fighters made Yayo Sanchez AKA "KISS Guy" famous after the young fan came onstage and shredded "Monkey Wrench."
Of course the incredible thing about that instance was how seamless a performance it was. Sanchez played and performed the song so well, many fans wondered if the whole thing was a work by the band.
While "Little Fonzie's" chops on the drums are truly remarkable for such a youngster, he didn't perform a song with the band, opting instead for a drum solo that lasted about three-and-a-half-minutes.
After more than two minutes, Grohl tried to wrap it up: "Ladies and gentlemen...he's still going. He's still going! Little Fonzie's still going! Hey, Little Fonzie, can I have my concert back?" Grohl said before kneeling down in front of his microphone laughing...perhaps somewhat nervously.
It put Grohl in a tough position. One of the most beloved figures in rock can't have security drag away an 8-year-old who the band invited on stage. So as "Little Fonzie" began the third movement of his epic performance, the former Nirvana drummer did the only thing he could do: he called "Little Fonzie's" dad.
"We're not a daycare," Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins wisecracked as "Little Fonzie" finally relinquished the throne with one final flam.
But rather than exiting stage right with his dad, "Little Fonzie" walked to the front of the stage to chat with Grohl before finally leaving of his own volition. Check out the video above!
It's been quite a tour for Foo Fighters. Between "KISS Guy," "Little Fonzie" and Grohl almost breaking his leg again, it's pretty clear that you never know what you're getting when you see the Foo Fighters. No wonder some fans recently got married at a show!
