Queen's new "heavyweight" News of the World 40th anniversary edition package has been set for a November 17, 2017, release date.
The band's watershed 1977 album will be re-released in a massive multi-format box set featuring the original album on CD, a "pure analog" re-cut of the original LP, two CDs of outtakes and rarities, a Bonus Tracks disc with live versions, a Raw Sessions CD full of 'alternative' versions of songs on the original album and more.
News of the World is one of Queen's best-selling albums, featuring songs like "We Will Rock You," "We Are the Champions," "Sheer Heart Attack," "Get Down Make Love" and others.
"For many Queen devotees, this Raw Sessions CD will be the most intriguing component of the new release," reads a press release on Queen's website. "Mined deep from long-vaulted studio multi-track tapes, this extraordinary parallel album brings to light never-before-heard alternative versions of each of the albums' 11 tracks."
The package also includes a DVD documentary, Queen: The American Dream, cut using backstage material filmed during Queen's 1977 USA News of the World Tour.
