David Bromberg Prepares Full Circle Big Band Celebration At Beacon Theatre

David Bromberg will play his final big band show on June 10 at New York's City's historic Beacon Theatre, closing a verbose chapter in his extraordinary 50-year career in American roots music.

Joining David to celebrate his career at the Beacon will be his ace live band (who helped him make his Big Road album a reality), plus a slate of special guests, including Wilco's Jeff Tweedy.

"It’ll be a party with my bandmates and friends; a real treat to have everyone together," Bromberg said after announcing the gig. "I'm happy and proud to come full circle and play this last show in New York City where it all started so many years ago."

There will be plenty to celebrate. In addition to more than a dozen albums as a solo artist, David has an extensive catalog as a collaborator and sideman to folk, pop, country and bluegrass luminaries like Bob Dylan, Richie Havens, Carly Simon, Gordon Lightfoot, Link Wray, Willie Nelson, Ringo Starr, Rita Coolidge, etc.

"Nobody's seen this show before," he tells Q104.3 New York's Out of the Box with Jonathan Clarke. "There's a couple of reasons. I mean, first of all, I've never done the same show twice; I don't have set lists — although for this one I might because I've got three horns, three backup singers and a keyboard player, all of which don't usually travel with me."
