A Kiss biopic is due to arrive around the same time the band takes its final bows.
Kiss's longtime manager Doc McGhee revealed the news in a recent interview on Rock Talk with Mitch Lafon. He explained that producer Mark Canton is heading up the project, which is on schedule at the moment.
"Hopefully in the next week we'll have a company behind it, and we'll start finishing the script, and hopefully by the time we end we'll have a movie finished for ... July of next year."
Kiss previously announced that the band's final concert ever would take place in New York City on July 17, 2021.
The band members have been coy when prodded publicly about the idea of doing a biopic. Front man Paul Stanley revealed this past summer that Kiss has fielded offers, but despite his interest in telling the Kiss story in film, he's never felt it was the right time to do so.
In that same interview, Stanley conceded that he had been so wrapped up in Kiss's farewell tour, that he had yet to see any of the recent blockbuster rock biopics, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, Mötley Crüe's The Dirt or Elton John's Rocketman.
A biopic won't be the only Kiss film project coming our way. The band recently announced a feature-length documentary, Kisstory, and asked fans to contribute pieces of rare Kiss-related media to the filmmakers.
The band is particularly interested in photos and live footage from its early years.
