KISS Drummer Eric Singer Is Now An Honorary Texas Police Officer

23rd Annual Race To Erase MS Gala - Show

Longtime KISS drummer Eric Singer is now an "honorary corporal" of the police department in Wharton, Texas.

Singer was in full Kiss 'Catman' makeup when he was sworn in by Wharton, TX, Police Chief Terry David Lynch before the band's Houston concert on Monday. Chief Lynch himself was wearing a Kiss t-shirt.

As part of his oath, Singer accepted the lifetime position, a formal letter from the chief and a custom shadow box with the department's seal.

Chief Lynch's letter explained that Singer was granted the position "in grateful acknowledgement of the honor and respect you show all of America's dedicated law enforcement heroes and their families."

The department shared a photo from the makeshift ceremony to its Facebook page Tuesday, adding that it is "humbled to have Eric Singer as a member of our family in blue."

Singer has played drums on four Kiss albums since first joining the band from 1991 - 1996, when the band's original lineup, featuring co-founding drummer Peter Criss reunited. Singer returned to Kiss full-time in 2004.

Kiss's 'End of the Road' tour has dates announced through December, with two additional makeup concerts scheduled in March. Get all the live dates here.
