Take Me To The Movies: Blinded By The Light

“Blinded By The Light”

This is one of the feel-good movies of the summer. It’s based on a real-life story from the ‘80s in England, centered on the son of a Pakistani immigrant who got his entire inspiration from Bruce Springsteen songs. Almost everyone starring is terrific and unknown, except for Hayley Atwell who starred in “Captain America: The First Avenger.” It’s very relatable today because it’s set in a time when Pakistanis were targeted by hateful protests and violence. It’s warm, it’s funny and it shows how music can be so inspiring and uplifting. New Jersey Bruce fans will especially devour this film- the brief scenes from Jersey and especially the Shore, will have you cheering with pride. Kudos to Bruce- without his blessing, this gem of a crowd pleaser could not have been made.
