âDisneynature: Penguinsâ
This is the 10th straight year Disneynature has released a family film for Earth Day with a portion of the 1st weekâs earnings donated to The Wildlife Conservation Network. âPenguinsâ is a perfect family film. Ed Helms is the voice of Steve, a young adult penguin who, along with millions of other penguins, makes the annual trek across Antarctica so he can woo a female penguin and build a nest for babies. A couple for life, they reunite each year by recognizing their voices, and then raise the chicks before sending them off to independence. Itâs funny, adorable, romantic and a thriller all rolled into one. Filmed in a part of the world few humans have visited, it took 3 years (!!!) to complete this movie. I am honored to have the co-directors and the producer on âSonstein Sundayâ at 7:15AM, along with the President of the Global Penguin Society. By the way, The Wall Street Journal calls director Alastair Fothergill the âSteven Spielberg of nature films.â Do see this one on IMAX and yes, you can take the littlest ones. Itâs just 76 minutes long.
