Slash Named Global Brand Ambassador for Gibson Guitars

Below Slash's iconic top hat, mane of curly hair and aviator sunglasses for the past 30-plus years has been a Gibson Les Paul.

Now, the guitar hero who's almost as legendary as his preferred instrument, is going to work for Gibson has Global Brand Ambassador. He'll be the first to hold the position in the history of the company.

The Guns N' Roses guitarist's first projects will include developing new products for Gibson's three brands, Gibson, Gibson Custom and Epiphone.

"Being called the first Global Ambassador for company as iconic as Gibson is really a humbling and kind of flattering distinction," Slash said. "The Les Paul sound is something I've been drawn to since I started. The real connection comes from a guitar that you can communicate through, that seems to be a good conduit for doing what it is you're trying to do musically."

Slash says the Gibson Les Paul was one of the first electric guitars he ever tried.

He says he spent his formative years as a musician experimenting with different models by other brands before coming back to Gibson and pretty much staying there ever since.

"Slash embodies the characteristics of creativity, passion and excellence that are so closely aligned with Gibson and we are very proud of the friendship and mutual success we have shared together for over thirty years," said Henry Juszkiewicz, chairman and CEO of Gibson Brands. "We are also very excited about the future products we will be announcing soon."
