Rock Reacts to 'Playboy' Founder Hugh Hefner's Death

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner was a pop culture icon for over half a century and friend to many in the entertainment business.

Going to party at the Playboy Mansion is basically a right of passage if you're an entertainer. And Hefner's life and career with Playboy spanned so many decades that he befriended rockers of every generation.

KISS bassist Gene Simmons was among the first to react to Hefner's passing. Simmons, of course, met his wife, former Playmate of the Year Shannon Tweed Simmons thanks in part to Hefner.

"A great man, entrepreneur and innovator," Simmons called Hefner in a Tweet Wednesday night. "Your legacy lives on."

Simmons later Tweeted a photo of Hef, Shannon and himself with the caption, "We love you #Hef."

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards Tweeted a photo of a hand-written note, "Hugh Hefner. His heart was in the right place. And so was the rest of him."
