When I first heard the greatest swimmer of all time was going to race a great white shark, I got really excited. Finally TV has resorted to showing actual gladiator matches for our entertainment. But alas, that wasn't to be the case.
Still I had held out hope that even though Michael Phelps wouldn't be placed into a shark cage and lowered into the water, they'd at the very least time a great white swimming a quarter mile or something and then timing Phelps doing the same. But not even that happened.
Instead, Discovery, for their major Shark Week promotion, ran a computer simulation of a great white swimming and then compared it against Phelps. That's, that's, that's...not the same thing!
I'm glad I'm not alone in my disappointment and in calling Discovery's "Phelps vs. Shark: Great Gold vs. Great White" FAKE NEWS!!
