In an interview with sports host Dan Patrick, rap music joke Vanilla Ice said he was facing a massive lawsuit over unpaid royalties due to his use of the bass line from Queen/David Bowie's "Under Pressure" in his 1990 hit "Ice, Ice Baby". Ice said he reached out to Brian May, who owned the rights at the time, and bought it. He claims that it was cheaper than dealing with going to court.
Despite the similarities, Ice at one time claimed that the bass lines were different:
