Heart Sisters Mourning Chris Cornell, Ann Wilson Pays Tribute on 'Jimmy Kimmel' (VIDEO)

Musicians from Seattle stick together. The grunge movement was proof enough of that.

But the connections of musicians from The Rainy City run across generations. This was never more clear than when Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell inducted Heart into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

Ann and Nancy Wilson have now spoken out about the untimely death of their friend.

"It's important now to keep thoughts of Chris positive," said Ann. "He is on his way. We loved him well, now wish him well on his journey. He was and is a beautiful soul."

Ann performed "Black Hole Sun" on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night in tribute to Cornell.

"No one is ever prepared to hear about a death in the family," Nancy Wilson added in an Instagram post with a lengthy caption attached. "And today Chris Cornell my brother from my Seattle music family is gone. Devastating. He was such an unwitting and reluctant BIG STAR. Such a purist with a problem. What we used to call "the Seattle musicians disease" Chris was among the greatest of Seattles most reluctant rock heroes. Like Elvis Presley in the wrong decade, Chris was way too handsome and way too talented. He was never going to be a poster boy [sic]."

She added later in the same post, "Chris Cornell's astounding god gifted voice cut through all that thick grey weather like a sun bolt. His beyond good looks and beyond talent were an embarrassment of riches."
