Detroit police say they received a 911 call from a local hotel at midnight Thursday.
“At 12 a.m. [local time], we received a 911 call from the MGM Grand Casino Hotel,” Detroit Police told Variety.
“It appears as though a family friend was checking up on Cornell at his wife’s request. He went to hotel and discovered him unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Police made the location with EMS, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The official went on to say the department is "leaning toward the possibility of suicide," but added the investigation is not complete until they get a medical report.
Police would not confirm reports that Cornell died of strangulation. A previous report said Cornell was found with something around his neck.
