The stories of many bluesmen include anecdotes about how, for lack of money, they had to build their first guitars, usually out of cigar boxes, cans, brooms -- whatever happened to be laying about the farm.
It's an incredible tradition of creativity and ingenuity despite circumstances. Perhaps that's why Reverend Peyton of Rev. Peyton's Big Damn Band so enjoys building makeshift guitars out of many outdoorsmanly items.
Above, you can see Peyton demo his new Axe Guitar -- let's call it the "axe axe." It loses its tune a bit after he chops the log, but oh well.
