Tommy Lee Pokes Fun At Injury, Feeding D.C. Crowd His 'Unbroken' Ribs

After two years of waiting to get the 'Stadium Tour' on the road, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee is unable to perform his band's entire set as he nurses four broken ribs.

During Thursday night's show at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., Lee took centerstage again to apologize for bowing out of the performance early due to his injury. Before putting his feet up, however, Lee brought out a catering pan full of beer cans and barbecue ribs to share with the audience.

"For the people that know, it's a little f---ing joke on the whole situation. For those of you who don't know, I brought a couple unbroken ribs for y'all to f---in' throw down on," Lee said before accepting the pan from a crew member.

After tossing the contents of the pan into the front row, Lee explained that he broke four ribs on his right side last week, just days before the tour launched.

"I'm not able to play the whole show, but I'm gonna play as much as I f---in' can," he said.

Lee revealed during the first show of the reunion tour that his doctor urged him to not perform until his injury was healed. He's struck a compromise by playing the first few songs each night with his band and then handing his sticks off to longtime Ozzy Osbourne drummer Tommy Clufetos for the rest of the set. (Lee has been returning to the stage each night to play piano on "Home Sweet Home.")

Lee's perseverance has drawn praise from his bandmates. Nikki Sixx complimented the drummer last week for "beasting" his way through half the band's show in Atlanta.

"We are a band and are proud of his strength," Sixx wrote at the time.

The 'Stadium Tour' has dates announced through September. Go here for the full list.
