Def Leppard Touts 'Early Years' Box Set With Live, Never-Before-Heard Music

2019 iHeartRadio Music Festival - Night 2 – Show

Def Leppard has combed through its archives and compiled some of its earliest recordings for a new box set of previously unheard material.

Front man Joe Elliott produced the five-disc Early Years 79-81 set. It includes remastered versions of Def Leppard's first two albums, along with live recordings, studio outtakes and BBC sessions. It's due out March 20.

Elliott said in a statement that the set is in response to repeated fan requests.

"Really excited to have our early years reworked with a load of rare material, including the newly unearthed Live at the Oxford New Theatre, recorded on the 1980 U.K. tour," he explained. "It's been a trip putting this box set together and I hope you all enjoy listening to it as much as we did working on it!"

To celebrate the new box set, Def Leppard unveiled an early version of "Rock Brigade," the lead track on the band's On Through the Night debut album. The song was intended to be released as a single.

Def Leppard is co-headlining 'The Stadium Tour' this summer with the reunited Mötley Crüe with special guests Poison and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.
