KISS frontman Paul Stanley addressed rumors that he's been lip synching during some 'End of the Road' concerts during a recent live set aboard the band's annual Kiss Kruise.
Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer took the stage on October 24 for an unmasked live set, in which the band delivered a bare-bones performance without its iconic costumes or elaborate stage production.
In a clip from the set shared to YouTube by a fan, Stanley quips between songs: "You can tell it's all on tape, we're not really playing, we're not really singing. Just kidding!"
A moment later the band kicked into their song "Two Timer" from 1975's Dressed to Kill album. Fans noted that it had been over a decade since Kiss performed the song live.
Kiss — and Stanley, in particular — has been the subject of numerous lip synching accusations during their 'End of the Road' tour. Stanley was purportedly 'caught' faking his vocals during the song "Detroit Rock City" back in June.
Skeptics point to a moment in the show opener when Stanley can be heard singing "Everybody" despite being several paces from a microphone.
The frontman had numerous, public struggles with his voice last decade and even underwent vocal cord surgery in 2011. Since the 'End of the Road' tour launched, Stanley has reported no issues with his voice. The only evidence that he's not as strong a singer as ever are the occasional video like this.
