Tropical Storm Warning, Flash Flood Watch In Effect For Tri-State

The National Weather Service issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the New York Metropolitan Area Friday.

A Flash Flood Watch was also in effect, as the sixth named tropical storm of the season crept up the East Coast.

Between 2 and 4 inches of rain was expected with potentially dangerous winds of up to 50 miles per hour.

Coastal areas were warned of waves that could be as high as 10 feet.

Flooding on roadways caused a number of closures and delays on area roads.

The Jersey City Fire Department was deployed to rescue trapped motorists who got stuck on flooded streets near the New Jersey Turnpike Extension and the Holland Tunnel.

The center of the storm was expected to brush New Jersey, Philadelphia and New York City on Friday, then New England Friday night and early Saturday.
