Mötley Crüe Moving Forward As If 'The Stadium Tour' Will Happen

While nearly every other large-scale event has been postponed or canceled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, one of the biggest tours of the year is staying the course thus far.

Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard's co-headlining 'Stadium Tour' with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Poison quickly became one of the year's hottest tickets, selling over a million tickets by late-January.

But many fans are frustrated that the bands are still acting as if the tour will proceed as scheduled, beginning June 18 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Drummer Tommy Lee told Billboard earlier this month that the tour is "still a go" until further notice and that he's kept busy planning his new drum solo stunt.

Crüe's official social media shared a still photo from The Dirt biopic on Wednesday with the caption, "We wanna knock people on the [sic] asses, we gotta give them a show."

The post quickly received hundreds of comments, many of which were from concerned fans urging the band to make the seemingly inevitable cancellation announcement.

Crüe responded to one thread, writing, "Bands don't decide this. We await info as well."

While some southern states have relaxed COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, despite many warning signs, it still seems unlikely that people will be able to gather en masse at sporting events or stadium concerts before there is a COVID-19 vaccine.

The vast majority of the country is still under stay home orders. If 'The Stadium Tour' moves forward, it would likely have to cancel dates in more densely-populated states that are enduring hundreds of COVID-19 deaths every day and seeing daily leaps by the thousands in confirmed coronavirus cases.

Bon Jovi recently cancelled its 2020 tour, specifically so fans who need the money could get refunds.

If Crüe and Def Leppard are dragging their feet, they wouldn't be the only major acts.

Journey has kept quiet on its scheduled tour with The Pretenders, although the band is currently without a bassist and drummer and The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde recently said she has doubts that tour will happen.
