Current Van Halen bassist Wolfgang Van Halen is almost done withhis debut solo album.

The 28-year-old son of guitarist Eddie Van Halen and actress Valerie Bertinelli is "in the final stages of writing and recording…a collection of diverse material."

Wolfgang is working on the project at his dad's 5150 Studios in Los Angeles with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette, whose previous credits include albums by Slash, Alter Bridge, Tremonti, Sevendust and Chevelle.

Remember Wolfgang was a member of Tremonti from 2012 to 2016 and he's been Van Halen as bassist since that band re-formed in 2007 with original frontman David Lee Roth even though the band hasn’t been around since 2015.

According to Billboard.com Wolfgang’s album is "a collection of diverse material including original songs ranging from haunting ballads to stomping rock classics. Wolfgang recorded all the instruments and vocals himself.

"It's been a long time coming and I can't wait for everyone to hear what I've been working on," Wolf says in a statement.

No word yet on a title or release date for the album.
