A number of suspicious devices found in and around a Lower Manhattan subway station caused extensive delays during Friday's morning commute.

Police say the bomb squad investigated the devices, which appeared to be pressure cookers, and cleared them early Friday.

"They are NOT explosive devices," said the NYPD Counterterrorism unit via Twitter. "Out of an abundance of caution officers have searched nearby stations."

Police ordered the area around Fulton Street and William Street around the Fulton Street subway station evacuated as they investigated the devices around 7 a.m.

Police activity caused delays on nine different subway lines.

The Boston Marathon bombers used makeshift explosives housed in pressure cookers in their 2013 terrorist attack, which killed five people and injured more 260 others.
