Take Me To The Movies: Stuber, Crawl, The Art of Self Defense

“Stuber”

A mild-mannered Uber driver picks up a passenger who happens to be a cop in hot pursuit of a brutal killer. The R-rated action/comedy with Kumail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista gets just 46% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Crawl”

This summer’s “Jaws” but instead of sharks its alligators gone wild after flooding hits Florida in a massive hurricane. Ironically, New Orleans is bearing down for a hurricane this weekend and is already dealing with flooding. Barry Pepper plays the dad of the heroine- he’s trapped by flood waters in the crawl space of their home. It's getting 91% (!) on Rotten Tomatoes.

“The Art of Self Defense”

Our good friend, Jesse Eisenberg, stars in this dark comedy. He plays a timid bookkeeper who is attacked by a roving motorcycle gang. So he joins a neighborhood karate school to protect himself. This leads him into a sinister world of fraternity, brutality and hyper testosterone. One critic calls it the best skewering of masculinity since “Fight Club”. It’s getting 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.
