Hoboken Poop Patrol Tasked With Ticketing Dog Owners Who Don't Clean Up

Officials in Hoboken have confirmed the establishment of an undercover patrol of police officers and Department of Environmental Services worker to police the dog poop problem on the town's sidewalks.

Mayor Ravi Bhalla says the chief complaint he receives from residents is that the town's walkways are littered with canine leavings from lazy dog owners.

Bhalla says his constituents are tired of having to dodge piles of poop all the time when they go for walks.

The undercover poop patrol is tasked with smacking pet owners with citations for not cleaning up their doggies' deuces.

Fines can range from $250 to $2,000.
