Watch Joe Elliott and Billy Joel Duet on "Pour Some Sugar on Me" in Boston

A night before Def Leppard played Fenway Park in Boston, frontman Joe Elliott got to get a feel for the stage when Billy Joel invited him out for a duet.

Towards the end of his set, Joel introduced Elliott, who received a thunderous greeting from the stadium audience. The two singers and Joel's band immediately launched into the opening bars of Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me."

You can see video of the surprise collaboration above.

Elliott later returned to sing "You May Be Right" with Joel at the end of the encore.

Joel mixed up his set quite a bit to play to the Bostonian audience. Prior to bringing Elliott onstage, Joel and his band ran through "Centerfold" with Peter Wolf of Boston bar legends, J. Geils Band

Earlier in the night, Joel even covered part of Boston's "More Than a Feeling" to the delight of the audience.

The summer has been good to Joel, who recently celebrated his 100th all-time show at Madison Square Garden, the most of any musical artist.

As part of the fanfare for the landmark achievement, New York State established Billy Joel Day as July 18, and the Garden announced that Joel's Steinway & Sons piano would be permanently displayed near the entrance to the World's Most Famous Arena.

Joel has a handful of tour dates around the country through the end of the year. See them here
