Take Me To The Movies: Equalizer 2, Mama Mia! Here We Go Again

“The Equalizer 2”

Denzel Washington’s 1st and only sequel in his career. It gets just 48% on Rotten Tomatoes with most wondering why it was even made- not offering anything new. Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo co-star. The door is left wide open for #3. For me, Denzel can do no wrong. He’s always cool.

“Mama Mia! Here We Go Again

It goes back and forth in time showing how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present. It’s 2 hours of more of the same, if you liked the first. Lily James gets high marks, joining the cast playing Meryl Streep’s daughter. Guess Meryl’s IRL own daughters passed.

My good friend, Jeffrey Lyons, calls it “surprisingly tolerable bubble-headed fluff.” It gets 3 stars from “The New York Post” but is panned by “The Daily News”. It gets 80% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Unfriended: Dark Web”

This horror movie has a 20-something year old finding a cache of hidden files on his laptop. He & his friends are suddenly thrust into the depths of the dark web with someone watching their every move. It gets 61% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Far From The Tree”

A documentary featured on “Sonstein Sunday” @ 7:15 was inspired by the 2012 award winning book “Far From The Tree: Parents, Children and the Search For Identity”. It celebrates illness and abnormalities as identity, tackling everything from dwarfism to Down syndrome to autism and more.

Director Rachel Dretzin and prize-winning author Andrew Solomon guest on “Sonstein Sunday” @ 7:15 AM.
